WIP Wednesday: Ghastlies Spiderweb Quilt

Guess what?  It's June and I'm making a Halloween quilt.  I know.  Seasonally inappropriate, but it's just what I do here. :-)

I have been wanting to make a "traditional" quilt for a long time.  "Traditional" meaning a quilt made of a single repeating well-established quilt block that has been around forever.  In the past whenever I started to think about what to do, some other crazy idea took over and I couldn't settle myself to do something straight-ahead and old school ... but then I thought of this little twist for a Halloween version of the traditional spiderweb quilt and off I went.
Each triangle section has a fussy-cut Ghastly character (from the Alexander Henry Ghastlies fabric line) in the middle and then all the fabric strings are from about a million Halloween scraps I had.
Here is the massive pile of trimmings (which I am saving for who-knows-what in the future).
My table.  And if I may say so, the spiderweb quilt is looking awesome!  These pics are from a little while back and I have made more progress on it that I will post soon.
And now, in honour of the Queen's Jubilee celebrations I thought I'd post this pic I took of Prince Charles and Camilla (along with New Brunswick Premier David Alward).  We went to see them when they visited Saint John a couple of weeks back.  We were able to get very close to them.  I thought they were a lovely looking couple.

I'm linking up with The Needle and Thread Network.  Why not surf on over and see what everyone else is up to?

I think it is a great time to work on a Halloween quilt. It will (maybe) be finished for Halloween! I did place mats last year. That's all the fabric I had, but I've since bought some more and would like to do one someday.
Yours is going to be wonderful and as always having your own style!

I can't wait to see what you end up with. I did a spider web quilt last summer using Ghastlie fabrics. (I did not use all the pretty colors you have. I think your will be beautiful!)

Ooh, it'll be hard to top last year's Halloween quilt, but I'm sure you can do it. I can't wait to see how it's gonna look!

Ooooh, what an appropriate idea for a spiderweb quilt. And it's awfully smart of you to make it in June, because then it's much easier to have it done in time for October!

This is definately the time to be making a halloween quilt -- and in July you make a christmas one... Always loved the variety of string quilts, especially when they have a theme!

Great photo of Charles and Camilla. Idea for your block leftovers, try making Crumb blocks. Google Crumb blocks to find a Tutorial.

I must live under a rock! I've never heard of Ghastlies! :( What I can see is wonderful....I mean, scary!! My niece (-in-law) loves Hallowe'en. I'm sure she'd love this. Good for you for starting early. You'll be done in time for the day.

You not only have plenty of Halloween fabrics but also started early enough - perfection in the making!
